MOVIE SET INSTALLATION

MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2016

EX CHURCH OF SAN CARPOFORO

‘’The relationship between the theatrical event and a place which has its own character disappears as soon as we begin to reconstruct the space’’ – Peter Brook

The movie set environment in the deconsecrated church from the 9th century already creates a world for itself with the action, direction and imagination of the people who come to see the event in this case an installation for Milan Design Week 2016. Following up on a Brook’s quote, the reconstruction of space for the occasion of the event is moving, dynamic, not just because of the set equipment on wheels, but because it stays unfinished in a way that different people can change and shape the story and its scenography consisting of Italian Independent products.

THREE- DIMENSIONAL PAINTING WITH DIFFERENT I•I EYEWEAR PATTERNS AND TEXTURES

The I•I EYEWEAR collection is the main set design element. I took the inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s paintings and placed I•I patterns and textures instead of the color from the Mondrian’s painting. Each of the I•I sunglasses is placed inside the box with corresponding pattern and texture.

Outside there are huge pillows for laying and sitting covered with different materials the sunglasses are made of.

In this way I tried to create a certain feeling of metatheatre, scenography inside scenography, movie set inside the installation set, the scene and behind the scene worlds where people can easily switch from one to another, add more layers to the space. As the main purpose of those kind of installation is to create a certain kind of mood, and the most improtant thing, to tell the story about brend, I found this idea very close to the Italian Independent main message. All the scene elements are based on the flow of the brand’s story as an independent, authentic, creative and cosmopolitan personality reflects the role and a symbol of film director.
